Interesting Call Center Statistics

According to ContactBabel:

In the United States:
  • There are 56,900 contact centers
  • There are 3.07 million call center agent positions
  • Large contact centers (more than 250 agent positions) employ 34% of call center staff, but comprise less than 4% of the physical contact centers
  • The mean average contact center size is 54 agent positions
In Canada:
  • There are presently 3,950 contact centers
  • There are 290,500 call center agent positions
  • The mean average contact center size is 74 agent positions
(These were from their 2006 North American Contact Center Study; it does not appear that they have updated the study.)
